More field fun

We went out to Buckeye for a NAHRA trial; Rick was judging Intermediate on Saturday so Sketch could only run Sunday.  He put in a great performance and earned his first WR leg, just need to work on his bird manners but noise and initial lines have really improved.

Updates!

Been busy busy!  Obedience hasn't been going well but others things are.  In mid-October we attended four UKC conformation shows, where Sketch won three Group placements to get his UCh.  In November, we did AKC Senior hunt tests, which he wasn't really ready for since I haven't had time to do much training.  However, out of four tests, he finished twice and actually got a leg!  We also found out what we need to work on ... ;-)

We have a few obedience trials, a NAHRA hunt test and two vacations in Las Vegas coming up before the end of the year.

Recent trials

We made a trip to Oregon and Montana for some trials on back to back weekends, with some field training in between.

The trials resulted in six more OTCh points and two High Combined wins.

And, it's a wrap!

Sketch got insulted in conformation at the specialty itself (fifth out of five in Bred By, two of the others wouldn't stand for the judge...) but the three trailing shows made up for it.  Friday he was RWD to a four point major ...

Saturday he was Winners Dog for a three point major ...

And Sunday he was Best of Winners for a four point major to finish his Ch!

I am SO glad that is done!  I'll post the official win photos as I get them.

More CCRCA

Wednesday was obedience.  Sketcher had WAY too much fun in Utility and finally dropped the bar on the very last exercise; I wouldn't have wanted the score, but it was too bad because he only needed one more UDX leg.

He got it together in Open and won High in Trial tho.

There was more loot, which was in the official win photo, a wagon which I gave to Iris and an ice cream maker, which I gave to Leslie and Richard.

WCQ

Yesterday was the first day of the CCRCA National specialty week.  Sketch ran in the WCQ test for the first time and passed!

It was a cold, rainy day so I'm glad he was able to get thru it.

The honor was HARD!  ;-)

A good weekend!

We traveled up to Klamath Falls for four trials, and after a shaky start on Thursday, Sketch did very well.  After the dust settled, he had won three classes, two High Combineds, two UDX legs, a High in Trial and a total of 21 OTCh points.

It seems to be our lucky place, as he won two HITs out of Novice there last year!

Sketcher is a cat

We ran one CAT test today since Sketch only needed one leg and I didn't feel like getting out of bed for the a.m. test!  ;-)  He had a great run and finished his CA title.

Rick went with us and made a video!

Happy Birthday!

Today was Sketch's fourth birthday.  In the morning, I made dog cookies using a new recipe - it didn't go well ...

But, eventually they did turn into cookies, which I "iced" with gooshy food.

I also took him out to Prado to run, swim and bark!

Silliness

At the Columbia Basin trials in Richland last month, I won this toy in the raffle for Sketch after he got his Open win.

He fell in love with it right away.

He still loves it!

Big wins, no points

We did a match and two trials in Arizona.  At the time I didn't know I had shingles and so didn't know why I was so tired at times and didn't feel like working Sketch.  Saturday, he did CAT for the first time and earned his first leg - he wasn't sure about it at first but by the end he had caught on.  In obedience, he flunked the first exercise in Open and the last in Utility.

Sunday was better.  He smoked the CAT course for his second leg, was Third in Utility by half a point to a tie for First and Second, and won Open for his seventh UDX leg, High Combined and High in Trial.  He may also have finished his OM1 if my point count is right.  However, since there was an absentee in Open, there were no OTCh points.
