closer to home

I was working in the garden today and found some things of interest.  The first is a very pretty flower that is apparently a volunteer as I have no memory of buying it (not that it means anything...)

 

Next is a dragonfly that was perched in Rick's tomato plant - I cannot imagine where he came from as there isn't much for undisturbed water around here.

 

Finally, a representative of a bunch of bizarre looking bugs that were also on the tomato plant and I think are doing it no good!

In no particular order...

 

A reef fish, a crab, a fairy shrimp, a hermit crab and a reef fish who lost his tail!

Feral chickens, fish that would get stuck on the stairs to the beach after high tide, and another reef fish.

 

Gas is expensive there!

We went on a snorkeling trip, which damn near killed me since I'm not smart enough to stop before I exhaust myself.  Here are some of the pictures I took of the fish underwater.
