Why I live in CA, part 2

We are on our way home from the trials in WA, after getting skunked (sigh) both days.  It is SUCH a blessing to get back into California where even in the northern part of the state they know what kind of weather is best -

We do get snow, but we are civilized enough to leave it in the mountains for the most part!

There are a few wildflowers starting to show up, such as these goldfields, which I found where Dodger and Proxy did their best to catch ground squirrels.

Meanwhile, Rick took this picture of actual frost on our front lawn on Sunday morning!  ;-)

This is why I live in California

For some bizarre reason, I thought it would be a good idea to go to a couple of trials in Washington this weekend.  Even tho I have no real idea what the competition will be, and it's winter, which means it'll be cold with a chance of stuff falling out of the sky.  So I could end up spending a bunch of money to suffer and get no points.  Oh boy - fun!  ;-)

So, of course the weather is conspiring against me and plans to dump a bunch of snow on the freeway.  We left about 12 hours earlier than I'd planned and managed to get thru California before any white stuff landed on the road.  Which is good because it's a nanny state and I'd be required to put chains on the car.  No thanks.  But, the minute we crossed into Oregon -

We are currently holed up in a Motel 6 in Eugene - it's still snowing but not as badly.  Tomorrow we only have about five more hours to go to get to the site, hopefully there won't be any more driving fun...

spoiled kitty!

Psycho Kitty has her own bed on my desk (which is quite the mess of course!  Sign of a busy person...)

Kitty is so spoiled that when it is cold, I wrap that red plaid blanket around her!

Finished!

Rick finished off the room while I was in Vegas last weekend, and moved the big pieces in.  There are two crates, for when dogs are drying from baths etc, and the treadmill.

and two filing cabinets with all of my Curly records, and the freezer full of dead birds and raw food.

Now I "only" need to move the remainder of the stuff that is still in the front room back in here - since Rick also moved the piano into the dining room, once I clear out the front room, I'll have quite a bit of training space in there!

Reruns!

Today was an almost complete rerun of Friday, which is fine by me!  Dodger was in a run off for 2nd, which he actually won (he isn't the worlds best heeler) -

and Proxy won Fourth in Open B, due to ticking a jump, this time the high jump.  But each day she is more comfortable in the ring, so I'm really happy with how she is coming along.

new day, new tune - sorta

Today Proxy did much better in Open B, except she hit the leading edge of the broad jump, losing 3 points.  Without that she'd have had a 197 but would still be Third!  This in a tiny class - I think 8 showed.  Sigh.  Well, at least I'm not trying to get points on her - yet  ;-)  Funny thing is, she only had one more point today than yesterday, with far fewer mistakes!

Dodger flunked Utility - we didn't go in until about 2 pm and it was hot, and he was disinterested.  He did try, but the heat is hard on him and he just didn't grok my moving stand signal until he'd traveled quite a ways.  Oh well.

Saw some interesting sights today, since my first time in the ring wasn't until after lunch.  These bronze big horn sheep are near the Starbucks where I go on line and charge batteries every night while I'm here.

I saw a real live honest to God bighorn on the way home from Phoenix last weekend, but by the time I'd realized what I'd seen I was too far down the freeway to stop and take a picture.

Boulder City is the gateway to the Hoover Dam...
Thus ends today's geography lesson!

more travel, more desert

In the continuing quest to finish Dodger's OTCh, we have driven to the desert again, for the third weekend in a row, tho this time outside of Las Vegas.  Because Rick had a business trip as well, I had to take all three dogs - Teaz was bored on the drive over.

We've only done the first day so far, but already it was worth the drive.  Dodger was second in Utility B for 2 more points, putting him up to 90!!!! and Proxy was fourth in Open B to finish her CDX.  She tied for third, but she still isn't comfortable in the ring and so lost the runoff, tho she did a much better job on this one than the one two weeks ago.

room update

Rick worked on the room while I was in Phoenix!

There are just some minor things left to do, then on to the next one!

Travel

Been on the road quite a bit recently and fortunately it's paid off in OTCh points.  This weekend we are in Phoenix for three trials, and since the first one started just before 11 am, I drove out over night.  It was COLD --->

Note, that is 5 AM, as in way too early in the morning - I'm not a big one for getting up to see the dawn!  ;-)

We also get to see things when we aren't driving - after today's trial I took Dodger to a local park so he could sniff and run amok, and I got to see my first rugby game.  Kind of interesting, looks like it could be fun - if I weren't 100 years old!  Too early in the year for flowers tho.
