Today we took a tour of back country Maui on horseback. Here is my horse -
and here is Rick aboard his steed! A couple of the pictures we took of the scenery -
There are feral cows all over - the government wants people to go out and grab themselves a side of beef because the cows are so common and so bad for the native flora.
Next we went to the Seven Sacred Pools -
Then back to the condo via the Road to Hana, which is really twisty!
and I've been touching up the paint. Unfortunately, for some reason the older can of brown is now a slightly different color than it was (???), so the first touch up had to be re-touched up! You can sort of see in this picture that the paint about an inch from the top is a little bit lighter than the rest.
Irritating because despite the window being open and a fan blowing in there, that room is like a sauna for most of the day. Gasp. Gotta keep working tho - we only have four days left!
Rick & I put most of the floor in yesterday & he finished it off this morning.
Now, the baseboard has been painted and is drying. Later they'll be cut to size and installed and we'll be done, except for a little touch up painting. Amazing...
Took a break from painting today and took all three dogs to Prado to work on blinds with Dodger and Proxy, and shorebreaking with Teaz. The first thing that went wrong is neither collar had a charge, so I had to scrap the shorebreaking. OK, at least we can do blinds - I let them out to run amok while I set out blinds for Dodger.
Dodger did fine on his blinds, then it was time to work Proxy on a long T. I had to do a lot of walking on that, as for some reason she decided she didn't need to sit on a whistle. After we were done, I let them all out again for another run amok - and managed to stumble into a meat bee nest! By the time I realized what was happening, I had several bites and the dogs were covered in black & yellow lumps. So we all went into the water so I could get all the little %^$@*%!! off of me and them. Fortunately, only Teaz got a bite, as the bees cannot get thru the body coat of a Curly.
Me however, not so lucky. These are the two biggest bites, right afterwards -->
and here they are about an hour later, after a bath of epsom salts and two antihistamines!
They hurt, they itch, they burn! They are also much bigger now - they almost touch - dayum.!
Yesterday we painted the room - it looks SO much better!!
Before - with all the patches -
After!
Today we put another coat of paint on, and also got the flooring. This -->
will replace this poor floor!
Spray paint from the shutters, dry wall paste to fix the (bazillion!) holes in the walls, sawdust, white paint from the ceiling, tan paint from the walls. It was really nice to not have to worry about ruining the floor! ;-)
I don't know if you all can tell from this picture, but we put the first coat of paint on the ceiling this weekend - in real life, it looks MUCH better!
And, the shutters are almost done! I only have one side of two of them left to give one coat of paint, and they can go back in the bedroom. I am really not going to miss the streetlight shining in my eyes while I try to sleep...
We have about two and a half weeks left to get things done... eek
We got the bead board up on the ceiling of the guest room - now we will get the trim that goes around the edges and up that up this weekend. Then, I'll have to get moving and get those shutters painted so I'm done making a mess before Rick is ready to paint the walls! ;-)
